This is my mother's story:
I am seeking help to save my business and continue trying to make a difference in other people lives as well. I was born in Cook County Hospital in Chicago, Illinois. My biological mother brought me to a small town named Coatopa, Alabama, when I was 8 months old. There I grew up with my grandparents, who later adopted me. Believe me God really knew what he was doing because they loved me tremendously. I had a simple childhood and I remember loving being a kid.
My Mom always told me that if you want "to have something" you had to "help someone else, stay out of the malls, work hard and save your money ". I always remembered those words and my husband and I tried to do that, so we didn't take any vacations, we didn't even go on a honeymoon when we were married instead we got married on Friday night January 2, 1987. My husband had to rush back to work right after we said "I Do". At that time, he was the Assistant Food & Beverage Director for the Omni Hotel in St. Louis, MO. It was the busy season, but we both felt that one day the sacrifices will pay off later. Now after 22 years we have come to a crossroad in our lives, we are not looking for a hand out but a helping hand which we feel will be beneficial for an investor or investors. The past 22 years have been full of trials and tribulations, which we came to an understanding and we refer to them as sacrificial experience educational points.
My husband and I have 49 years combined Food and Beverage experience. We bought our first catering company in 1994 directly out of our own pockets. We believe in order to be able to fulfill our dreams as well as to help someone else to conquer their dreams we must become business owners. During these past 15 years we bought 3 catering companies, owned and operated several restaurants, serviced 5 school lunch program contracts and kosher catering contracts. During this time and years before we fed the hungry, provided wheels and transportation for those who did not have a vehicle and housed people that did not have nowhere to go. We tried to give employment opportunities and kind words of inspiration to people who felt that all hope had evaded their lives. We financially did this out of our own pockets, please understand we know God used us to fulfill the needs of all those that came across our paths. Then the economy began to falter and we started to downturn just like the economy. Instead of being on the giving aisle, my husband, two daughters and myself ended up in the receiving line. We lost everything but our faith and a vision of the promise land. We hope God would let someone read this and give us another chance to accomplish our dreams and continue our work in process.
An opportunity has been presented to us to purchase an event facility that has an enormous amount of equity. We are seeking the amount of $75,000.00 as a down payment to purchase the event facility and $35,000.00 for operating capital. In conclusion, I am seeking the help of someone to believe in us and praying that someone's heart would be touched to give us a chance so that we may be able to pass on opportunities and blessings.
